Employing a Nanny for overseas
Most of our overseas candidates are aged between
22 and 45. They will have had experience working
in a nursery or as a live in Nanny. Most will have
some kind of qualification or perhaps have already
travelled overseas.
Salaries for overseas Nannies tend to range between
£300 and £750+ per week clear- clear
meaning after deduction of taxes etc. Salary is
generally dependant on experience/hours etc.
As the employer you will be liable to pay for any
flights and travel for the nanny. The nanny should
also be given a return flight home.
The employer is liable for medical and travel insurance.
Registration
On registering your overseas vacancy, please
take time to consider any particular skills that
are essential for your post ie driving, non-smoking,
fluent French, etc. versus desirables like age,
baby experience, knowledge of the area/culture
etc. Please give your consultant as much information
as possible about your post to help her tailor
your search.
Confirmation
On confirming a booking with a nanny we suggest
that you have an employment contract with their
basic hours and conditions in writing (we can
help you with this). On confirmation of the start
date the agency will send you an invoice.
The agency fee will be payable prior to the nannies
departure and with this you will have an eight-week
guarantee. During this period we recommend that
you sit down on a weekly basis to discuss how things
are going with your new nanny. We feel that the
eight weeks gives you and the nanny time to get
to know each other and for the nanny to settle into
her new environment.
During these eight weeks if there are any teething
problems please call the agency and if things cannot
be resolved out we would replace the nanny free
of charge.
To help your nanny to settle in, at Imperial Nannies
we will make the nanny aware of other Imperial Nannies
in the area, and we do recommend that you do the
same if you know of nannies locally.
Depending on where you are living the nanny may
not know all rules and regulations and if you are
practising a different religion they may need guidance
when they first arrive.
Visa requirements when applying for posts overseas
International candidates must hold a valid passport,
and be legally allowed to work in the country in
question. It is the client's responsibility to provide
the required working visa. Candidates should note
that we will not consider any person for a position
where they cannot obtain the necessary permits.
For example, if you are not an EU citizen, please
do not apply for positions in the EU. It is extremely
difficult for non-US citizens to obtain working
visas for the USA, and clients and candidates alike
should ascertain the likelihood of obtaining such
a visa before applying for positions or registering
their need for staff.
