Mother's Help
Mother's Helps are aged between 17 – 35, of all nationalities
including British. They all have work permits and are
either ex-s who don’t have formal training,
or young girls with a qualification, but no full-time
experience. Employers will be asked to pay Tax and National Insurance
on their salary. All our Mother's Helps have valid references
that we have confirmed with previous employers. Most candidates
are non-smokers with valid driving licence. We interview
our Mother's Helps and ascertain their experience, the
sort of post they are seeking and discuss the qualities
they can offer to a prospective employer.
A Mother's Help will cover all nursery duties as well
as help with childcare including all of the obvious things
such as dressing, bathing, preparing nutritious meals
for the children, games, painting, reading and various
other social activities. A Mother's Help is not expected
to do heavy housework or family cooking unless agreed
before the position is accepted, however will offer general
help in the household (vacuuming, dusting, light washing, ironing, etc.).
• Salaries, depending on age and experience and
the duties involved, generally range from £200-£275+
pw net for live-in Mother's Help. The daily Mother's Help
salary generally ranges from £280-£350+ pw
net.
• Mother's Help taking a permanent post, starts with
a one year contract, which is between the Employer and
the Mother's Help.
• Mother's Helps are entitled to the statutory four
weeks paid holiday plus National Bank holidays.
• Mother's Helps usually work a 5-day week with
weekends free. If you require the Mother's Help to work
at the weekend, she should be given 1 ½ - 2 full
days free during the week or extra payment.
• A normal working day would usually be a maximum
of twelve hours for live in Mother's Help and 10 hours
for daily Mother's Help unless agreed otherwise before
the position commences.
• Live in Mother's Helps will baby-sit 2 nights
per week as part of their contract. If extra baby-sitting
is required, Employers usually arrange to pay extra or
give time off in lieu. Weekend baby-sitting needs to be
discussed at interview stage, as most Mother's Helps prefer
their weekends completely free.
